Zwane Praises Chiefs After Royal AM Loss
New Kaizer Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane, is confident that his squad’s overall performances will improve despite losing 1-0 to Royal AM in their opening DStv Premiership match on Saturday, 6 August.
Playing at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Chiefs’ campaign got off to a rocky start when Royal defender, Ricardo Nascimento, struck two minutes into the game with a rebound.
This sole goal allowed the hosts to beat their guests in a league match-up for the third successive time: when the two clubs met last September and December, Thwihli Thwahla reigned triumphant over Amakhosi each time.
Speaking to a local soccer outlet, Zwane assured fans that his men were “going to get it right” and that they were the “better team by far” that day.
“What a game,” he said. “I’m more than happy, though there’s room for improvement. We still have 29 more games to play, cup games as well. This is one season that people will get to know what’s going on.
“There’s no doubt that if we can put [Royal] on their back foot for the better part of the second half, then it means we’re on the right track. We’re going to get them.”
But will they? We’ll have to see how the rest of the season pans out!
